REVIEWS AND Q&A

I installed Cush Core XC in my Trek Sawyer, Rigid Single Speed.
    It is 💯 🔥 AMAZING
I dropped my air pressure 5 psi front and rear.

Currently running 15.5psi front and 16.5 psi rear.

Relax it’s a rigid single speed. I’m not hitting corners that hard. But the Cush Core added a substantial amount of support to the tires. They cornered better and were less wobbly than they were at 20-21 psi.

I hit plenty of sharp square edge rocks nice and hard with no unsettling thud of my carbon rims.

I also followed the directions on installation.
I have heard horror stories but those people must have done it all wrong.
They might have added 10 minutes total to my install time of both tires.
    If even that.
I didn’t even have to swear at them.
Buy the Bead Dropper Tool, it is worth every penny.

I will 100% be running Cush Core in my Full Squish and Gravel bikes.
    Truly a game-changer.

Cushcore has been absolutely fantastic, both for racing and riding, it adds significant confidence in both grip, and the planted feeling over roots and rocks, achieved through the lower tire pressures, and the vibration damping from Cushcore its self. In addition when hitting corners hard, the sidewall support and the lower pressure makes the tire feel confident and stable, even through high speed corners, with no fear of rolling, and finally the rim protection, makes big hits and new lines possible without the fear of rim damage. Totally fantastic!

Just finished putting the CushCore XC through a trial-by-fire test at the Moab Rocks Stage Race. I did my best to test them at the limit… and I’m wholly impressed at the performance improvement they brought. I was running a spandex-clad set of Stan’s Podium SRD wheels, which in any other universe would be a terrible idea to go Mach Chicken in Moab, but thanks to the CushCore XC I could race without worry.

First, impact protection. The ability to roll over roots, rocks, and whatever’s in your path without worry of breaking a rim is so valuable. Plus I’m very happy for the forgiveness when I accidentally knock a square edge rock. Second, the sidewall stability was confidence-inducing for high speed cornering. Having the ability to lean the bike over and fully engage every knob on the tread allows for heaps of traction… even with sketchy XC race tires that love to roll off the bead. Finally, being able to run lower pressures (I’m at 16 + 17) is key; makes that 100mm of travel go WAY further.

All in all, I can’t recommend them enough. From cornering stability here in the PNW, to rocky confidence in Moab, the CushCore XC set is going with me everywhere. (And they’re really not that hard to install… just follow the directions and you’ll be fine.)
